A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications Team, Ibrahim Ali, has cited what he called the significant drop in the retail price of the iPhone 13 Pro Max as evidence of what he describes as the improved economic conditions under the Mahama administration.

Speaking in an interview on Starr FM on September 23, 2026, Ali said he purchased his iPhone 13 Pro Max for nearly GH¢12,000 during the tenure of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

According to him, the same model can now be purchased for about GH¢4,600, depending on the shop and location.

“I bought this phone for almost 12,000 Ghana cedis… and now if you get 4,600, you will get iPhone 13 Pro Max.”

He explained that current prices for the model generally range between GH¢4,000 and GH¢6,000, depending on where the phone is purchased.

Ali contrasted the current price with what he said was the cost of the device under the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.

“But under the turn of the NPP, it was almost over 12,000. It was over 12,000; now it’s around 4,000,” he stated.

He challenged viewers to verify his claim, insisting that his comments were based on facts.

“I’m speaking to facts. You can fact-check me,” he said.

Ibrahim Ali further argued that the affordability of smartphones, particularly iPhones, has improved to the extent that more people can now afford them.

“Today, iPhones are becoming like ordinary… almost everybody in Ghana can now afford an iPhone…that alone should tell you that, indeed, the government is performing,” he added.
