The Akatsi South Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of its Constituency Organizer, Sullemana Seidu.

Seidu reportedly died on Friday, September 25, 2026, at the Abor Sacred Heart Hospital after a short illness, sending shockwaves through the NDC fraternity and communities across the Akatsi South Constituency.

His death has triggered an outpouring of grief, with thousands of condolence messages from party members, political associates, community members, friends and sympathisers who have taken to various platforms to mourn the late organizer and celebrate his contributions to the party and the people.

Until his death, Seidu was serving as the NDC Constituency Organizer for Akatsi South.

He was also a former Assemblymember for the Wute Electoral Area and served as the Administrator of the Akatsi South NADMO Office.

In an official statement issued on Friday, September 25, the Akatsi South Constituency Executives described his death as a profound loss to the party, portraying him as a loyal soldier, hardworking organizer and committed party man who dedicated years of his life to advancing the NDC.

According to the Constituency Secretariat, Sullemana Seidu served the party through “thick and thin,” demonstrating unwavering commitment, sacrifice and perseverance in his organizational duties.

The statement issued by Francis Dotsey Bedzo particularly highlighted his grassroots organizational work, noting that he was deeply familiar with the branches and polling stations across the constituency and played an important role in mobilising party supporters.

The Constituency Executives further described the late organizer as a unifier and selfless servant, saying he consistently placed the interests of the party above his personal considerations and devoted his time, resources, energy and personal vehicle to party activities.

NDC Suspends Campaign Activities

Following his death, the Akatsi South Constituency Secretariat has directed the immediate suspension of all campaign-related activities within the constituency.

The directive, issued in consultation with the party's leadership, including the Municipal Chief Executive and the Member of Parliament for Akatsi South, Bernard Ahiafor, places all branch meetings, aspirant campaign activities and other political gatherings on hold.

The Secretariat explained that the suspension is intended to allow members of the party to mourn their fallen colleague and demonstrate solidarity with his bereaved family.

Party members have, however, been permitted to continue sharing tributes, prayers and fond memories of the late organizer on party platforms.

The Constituency Secretariat said further directives, including information concerning the duration of the suspension and funeral arrangements, would be communicated after consultations with the bereaved family and party leadership.

Seidu's death has left the Akatsi South NDC mourning the loss of a man described by the party as a gallant soldier, grassroots mobiliser and dedicated servant whose years of service contributed to the organizational life of the constituency.

The party has extended its deepest condolences to his wife, children, family, friends and loved ones.
