Rev Ntim Fodjour, MP for Assin South (R) prayed for President Mahama during last year watchnight
The Member of Parliament for Assin South and Ranking Member on the Defence and Interior Committee, Rev John Ntim Fordjour, prayed for President John Dramani Mahama to succeed in leading the country, stressing that Ghana’s progress should transcend political party lines.
Rev Ntim Fordjour made the prayer during the 2025 31st December Watchnight Service, where he called on Christians to pray for the President and other public officials as they entered the new year.
Quoting the biblical injunction to pray for those in authority, Rev Ntim Fordjour said the welfare of the country should be the primary concern of all Ghanaians, regardless of their political affiliations.
“The Bible says that we should pray for those who are in authority. We should remember kings and pray for everyone that is in authority. So we are going to pray for President Mahama,” he said.
He specifically prayed that President Mahama would not fail in his mandate and would succeed in implementing the vision he has for the country.
“Our prayer is that Ghana must not fail. Our prayer is that Ghana must succeed. Our prayer is that President Mahama must not fail. Our prayer is that President Mahama must succeed,” Rev Ntim Fordjour prayed.

He urged Ghanaians belonging to different political parties to make the success of the country and its leadership a shared prayer.
“Whatever political party you belong to, let this be your prayer,” he said, explaining that the President’s success would ultimately benefit the country and provide a foundation for the next administration to build upon.
