National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joseph Yamin, has explained why he wants to remain in the party’s national executive structure ahead of the 2028 general elections.
According to him, the party risks going into the next election with a weak front if experienced members leave their positions to join the government.
Speaking at a joint press conference organised by the NDC on October 21, 2026, Yamin said the party needed dedicated leaders who understood the political strategies of their opponents.
He disclosed that he and other party executives, including Deputy General Secretary Mustapha Gbande, had decided to remain within the NDC’s national executive structure to help prepare the party for the next general election.
2028 elections will be difficult for NDC - Joseph Yamin admits
“It is clear that the NDC will not have the likes of Sammy Gyamfi again, will not have the likes of Malik Basintale in the executive structure again, will not have the likes of Pablo and others simply because they are in government today,” he said.
He warned that the departure of experienced executives without adequate replacements could weaken the party’s preparations for the 2028 polls.
“And so, if all the experienced hands leave, then we will be going into the election with a very weak front,” Yamin stated.
He said he and other executives intended to use their experience to strengthen the party while supporting the work of government appointees.
Yamin is seeking re-election in the NDC’s upcoming national executive elections, scheduled for December 19, 2026.
