Cape Coast, Jan. 22, GNA- The Central Regional Wing of the Conventions People Party (CPP) on Friday appointed a 12 interim executive body in Cape Coast to replace members who broke away about two months ago to form a new party.

The new executives included; Kwame Arday, chairman; Dr. Frank Nkrumah, First Vice Chairman; Jonathan Abass, second Vice Chairman; Ato Maclean, Secretary; Paa Kojo Bempong-Manful, Assistant Secretary; Kwaku Antwi, Organizer, and George Gyimah, Assistant Organizer.

The rest were; George Danso, Youth Organizer; Alamu Hakeem, Assistant Youth Organizer; Alhaji Sulley, Treasurer; Ophelia Boatemaa, Assistant Women Organizer, and Nana Kobina Gyan, Education Secretary.

The appointment and swearing in was done during the party’s regional get together which was termed “family convention” aimed at rekindling unity and oneness in the CPP.

Ms. Christina Samia Yaaba Nkrumah, Chairperson, after swearing the acting executives, emphasized that the Central Region was the hardest hit during the party crisis, therefore the region shall henceforth be the “special region”.

She expressed immense gratitude to loyalists who defied all odds and stood firm during the crisis saying “you have shown that you are the pure gold, so I urge you all to stand with confidence and be proud of yourselves because what you have done is exceptional”.

Ms. Nkrumah stressed that the recent development has even presented the Party with more loyal and courageous members from the Region, and serves as a golden opportunity to achieve real ‘Nkrumaism’.

The chairperson was hopeful that with commitment and loyalty, it shall be well with CPP and Ghana at large.

Mr Ivor Greenstreet, CPP’s General Secretary, said the party’s focus on appointing acting members was to help the Party organize polling stations, reopen new offices, and quickly get a presidential candidate, all in preparation toward the upcoming election.

He also stressed that most of the solid party members remain standing and committed and therefore assured them of support, urging them to work real hard.

A statement signed by the newly sworn in Acting Regional Secretary, Ato Maclean, revealed that the resignation of some CPP members would rather strengthen their resolve to remain united and organized as never before.

It also stated that with the new wind blowing, they were hopeful that the ordinary people would once again become the fulcrum of organization, based on clearly defined political and educational Nkrumaist principles.
