Maamah Nomabo V, Sariki Zongo or Head of the Zongo Community in Saltpond, has appealed to politicians to be truthful and sincere in all their dealings.
Maamah Nomabo said as people aspired to be leaders, it was their responsibility to build the confidence of the people by being truthful and sincere in whatever they do.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Saltpond, he said, that was why Ghanaians were being disturbed about reported cases of some aspiring Members of Parliament transporting people, some of whom were not Ghanaians, to their constituencies to register.
He said if the aspiring leaders could adopt such unscrupulous means to win power then the nation had a serious problem. “MPs cannot be trusted?” he asked, then; “God help Ghana.”
Maamah Nomabo appealed to the youth of Zongo to refrain from being engaged by politicians to foment trouble in the run up to the elections and during the elections.
“Help the Zongo communities to get a decent name but not as a place for wrong doers,” he said.
He appealed to the leaders of Zongo communities to impose sanctions on people from their communities who would engage in wrongful activities in relation to the elections.
The Sariki urged people of Zongo to be observant so that politicians would not use their place as grounds for criminal activities.
He commended Mr Aquinas Tawiah Quansah, Deputy Central Regional Minister and MP for Mfantseman West and Mr Henry Kweku Hayfron, Mfantseman Municipal Chief Executive for improving the living condition in his community especially by tarring the roads.**
