PPP storms Accra

The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) concludes it nationwide tour with a two day visit to some selected parts of the Greater Accra Region. The party begins the last leg of the tour with a visit to Tema and Ashaiman this morning.

As usual the tour would be led by the party’s flagbearer, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom and other members of the party’s national executives as well as some members of the Executive Committee of the PPP.

At Tema, the PPP flagbearer would be making some radio appearances and later visit chiefs and people of the Tema Traditional area. The visit to the Tema Palace is part of the party’s show of respect to the custodians of our land and the need to seek their guidance and permission to campaign on their lands when real party politicking starts later in the year.

The practice had been one of the highlights of the PPP’s visits to many parts of the country since it embarked on the national tour some two weeks ago. The PPP team is also expected to visit the Tema New town fishing community where party leaders are expected to meet with fisher folks, listen to their problems and share with them how the PPP intends solving such problems when given the mandate in this year’s elections.

Earlier the PPP had toured the Central, Western, Eastern, Volta and the Ashanti Regions. The other areas were the Northern, Upper East, Brong Ahafo and the Upper West Regions. From the Tema palace, Dr Nduom and his entourage will visit market centres, lorry parks and also pay courtesy calls on some identifiable groups like the GPRTU and other Unions.

At Ashaiman, the team will call on the Ashaiman chief and also pay a visit to the Chief Imam of the area as well as some identifiable groups just like in the case of the Tema visit. The group will then have interaction with market women, opinion leaders, drivers, traders, artisans and later address people at the Ashaiman market in the afternoon.

Dr Nduom and his team will later visit Shai Osudoku and Ningo Prampram. On Thursday, the PPP train will hit Accra and its environs where the party will pay courtesy calls on some Ga chiefs and other traditional rulers before embarking on a tour of the Kaneshie, Makola, Mallam- Atta, Circle and Mallam markets.

As usual the party would be discussing its three priority areas of education, health care and job creation with such identifiable groups.
