The deputy Majority Leader Rashid Pelpuo is not happy Parliament has to sit at a crucial time when MPs have to visit their constituents and campaign as well.

Members of Parliament returned to the house on September 3 for emergency sitting to deliberate on a number of outstanding bills.

Amongst them was the controversial Constitutional Instrument (CI) 78 which is to give legal backing to the creation of 45 new constituencies.

Parliament has been heavily underrepresented since some members are campaigning in their constituencies.

Mr. Pelpuo said though he would have wished to be with his constituents parliamentary engagement is a national duty that must be honoured.

“My constituents need me, they ask for me all the time, they complain of NPP campaigning and saying all kind of things. But we still have to show responsibility to national duty”.
