President John Mahama faced a torrid time in his attempt to outdoor the the National Democratic Congress’ parliamentary candidate for the Komenda/Edina/Eguafo/Abirem constituency in the Central Region on Thursday.

At a mini rally to present Dr. J.S. Annan to the supporters of the party, the president was interrupted a number of times as he sought to calm the aggrieved supporters, many of whom have decided to support an Independent candidate, Dr. Ato Quarshie, who was defeated in the party’s primaries.

The crowd could be heard shouting “away, away” anytime President Mahama spoke about Dr. J.S. Annan.

This seems to confirm the concerns raised by the party’s Communication Director in the region, Allotey Jacobs who said the people in the area have lost hope in the current MP.

After a while, when the tempers abated, President Mahama assured the crowd that he was going to meet the two rivals to ensure that the problems are addressed.

He said until the differences are solved, the party cannot present a formidable front in the election and could cost the party the KEEA seat.

President Mahama encouraged the people to let go of their differences to make the party a more formidable force in the upcoming election.

Meanwhile, pollster Ben Ephson has indicated that the KEEA seat will fall to the New Patriotic Party Candidate if Dr. Ato Quarshie goes independent.
