Ex-member of Parliament (MP) for Asokwa in Kumasi, Kofi Jumah, has called for strict police monitoring of the ongoing limited voters’ registration exercise in all the ten regions of the country.

He said it would be unfair for the people of the Ashanti Region if it emerges that the police in the other ten regions of the country failed to be firm on the grounds like their colleagues in the Ashanti Region.

The outspoken politician showered praises on DCOP Kofi Boakye, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, for the professional manner in which he had ensured law and order at all the registration centres in the region.

Kofi Jumah was speaking in an exclusive interview with DAILY GUIDE shortly after DCOP Kofi Boakye had chaired over a meeting involving the various political parties in the region on Friday.

DCOP Kofi Boakye called the meeting to make sure that the various political parties conducted themselves well so that the ongoing national political exercise would be a success in the region.

Kofi Jumah said by DCOP Kofi Boakye’s style and action, it would extremely impossible for minors and foreigners to be registered as had happened in previous political exercises held in the country.

The former Asokwa Law Maker said, “The registration exercise is not about the Ashanti Region alone therefore I am expecting police officers in the other regions to be active and stop minors from registering.”

According to him, the NPP is committed to making the registration exercise a huge one across the length and breadth of the country, noting that “it is crucial that the police remain neutral and professional always.”

Kofi Jumah expressed his excitement about the massive infrastructural transformation that has taken place at the Police Headquarters in Kumasi within the few months since Kofi Boakye took over the mantle as the police boss in the region.

He said the Ashanti Regional Police Commander also deserves applause for reducing the crime rate in the region, urging him to sustain his good works.
