The ‘United Cadres’ Front of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on the rank and file of the Party, to vote for competent people during the Party’s forthcoming constituencies, regional and national conferences.

A statement issued on Monday by Mr Efanam Felix Nyaku, United Cadres Front General Secretary and copied to the Ghana News Agency said the call was made in view of the fact that the Party needs men and women of timbre and calibre to steer its affairs in order to be fully prepared for the 2016 general elections.

It said “The United Cadres’ Front is highly convinced that the task ahead of the Party is surmountable if the elections are taken seriously to elect officers who are bent on carrying on and deepening the basic tenets of probity, transparency, integrity and accountability that have been the pillars of the Party’s mobilisation and organisational efforts since 1992”.

“There is little doubt that the structures of the Party are either non-functional or non-existent; it is also true that the proverbial 'singing the same hymn and reading from the same page’ that characterised the revolutionary era has lost on the Party such that there is little sign of central direction, the statement added.

“We cannot run away from the fact that infiltration of individuals and groups for power, recognition and economic gains has broken our collective front by planting factionalism, individualism and personalisation to the point that the great NDC has almost lost its vim, and dynamism.”

The statement said, such negativities have had serious organisational consequences by way of inactivity of the structures and offices of the Party at all levels, alarmingly affecting its attraction.

“Those who have the mantle to take part at every level of the elections must therefore remember that, it is only by voting on their conscience and personal conviction – devoid of any underhand dealings - that the right people will be put at the right positions to strengthen as well as brighten the Party’s chances of winning the 2016 general elections,” the statement said.
