Mr Adams Siddique, a Civic Education Officer of the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE), has warned the youth of Nima and Maamobi not to wear the Tee shirts of political parties to the polling stations during the District Assembly election.

He the NCCE was responsible for civic education to ensure that everyone participates fully in the elections and the assembly’s activities and not the political parties.

Mr Siddique said this at a forum to educate residents of Nima and Maamobi on the District Assembly Elections and the role of the Unit Committee members, and was sponsored by Global Communities, an International Non- Governmental Organisation in Ghana.

He said since “This is the first time the Biometric Machine would be used for the District Assembly Elections in the country, everyone must ensure that the process is peaceful come election day on September 1,2015”.

Mr Siddique expressed disappointment about the low patronage of the district assembly elections and called on the people to come out in their numbers to vote for rapid development in their areas.

He said it was the responsibility of the assemblies to ensure that the people live in a clean environment and called for vigorous civic education in the districts to ensure that sanitation issues are taken seriously.

He called on the media to help revive the self-help spirit of the people to make them more responsive to their civic responsibilities.

In a related development, two youth groups, The Youth Movement For African Unity and the North Ayawaso Youth In Action, have organised a District Assembly Peace Walk for the people of the area and all the contestants at Nima and Maamobi to ensure full patronage of the elections.
