Leader and Chairman of the Convention People’s Party (CPP,) Prof. Dr. Edmund Delle, has assured young Ghanaians that his party will restore the spirit of nationalism through job creation.

According to him, the move is to revisit the days of ‘Work and Happiness’ as ensured by Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, few years after independence.

Prof. Delle disclosed this in an interview with Today at an event to mark the 50th anniversary of the overthrow of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah by the military and police on 24th February, 1966.

Prof. Delle told this reporter that all that needs to be done is total renovations of all state factories.

He supported his statement with what has been done with the Kumasi Shoe Factory which currently is manufacturing boots for the security services.

He added that the glass and sugar factories can be revived to provide employment for young people in their catchments.

“The future of this country resides in the youth and we must create conditions which will make them stay in the country or even if they go out and study, they will go and study and come back because we must revive that sense of nationalism, patriotism which is almost now dead,” he said.

He added that it was in tandem with this course that his party elected a youth – Ivor Greenstreet, who is “50 years old; and is disabled and therefore understands needs of the ordinary Ghanaian and the disabled who are about 4.2 million.”

“…people were excited to see him when I went on a tour with.”

“CPP is not an elitist party; we will put on our boots and go to the ground and work for the people,” he assured.

He said individuals and entrepreneurs alone cannot build the Ghana’s economy – only a collective service by all can do that.

Against this backdrop, the renowned dermatologist urged the youth to lead the course to restore happiness in the country by supporting the CPP.
