The New Patriotic Party’s Karaga Constituency primary is slated to take place in the Savelugu Constituency in the Northern Region on Saturday, September 17. The process to elect a replacement for Shaharawi Bashiru, who resigned on health grounds, is set to witness heavy security presence.
Information reaching 3news.com reveals the election was relocated to the Savelugu Constituency due to intelligence picked by party executives, forcing them to select a neutral ground to prevent unforeseen circumstances that may mar the process since elections in recent times in the Karaga Constituency have witnessed some chaos.
3news.com also gathers that the Chief of Karaga, Mahama Adam, prayed the New Patriotic Party (NPP) relocate the election to prevent a possible clash among supporters who in recent times have been at each other’s throats.
Delegates are expected to travel from Karaga to Savelugu if they want to exercise their franchise. The winner of the primary will contest the seat against the incumbent Member of Parliament Alhassan Sualisu Dandawa of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and other candidates.
