Professor Kwamena Ahwoi
The longest-serving Local Government and Rural Development minister since independence,Professor Kwamena Ahwoi, has revealed that Kofi Abrefa Busia would have resigned from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to the join the ruling National Democratic Congress if he was alive.
According to him, the flag bearer of the NPP,Akufo-Addo and his henchmen have divided the party and breeding a culture of intolerance by crushing dissent for the hounding and sacking of Paul Afoko,Kwabena Agyapong and some other key officials and stakeholders in the NPP.
This,the professor believes has made the NPP so unattractive that Busia, the former Prime Minister of Ghana and leader of the Progress Party which metamorphosed into today's NPP, would have resigned to become a member of the NDC which is united under President Mahama
Prof Ahwoi made this revelation while addressing a rally at Nchiraa in the Wenchi Constituency of the Brong Ahafo Region on the third day of the Chief of Staff's six-day campaign tour of the region.
He called on the Chiefs and people of Nchiraa to vote massively for President John Mahama and the NDC parliamentary candidate for the area, Osei Kwadwo Hayford,for development in continuity.
The Omanhene of the Nchiraa Traditional Area, Odeneho Sene-Akofena Tabiri Yaw, commended the NDC administration for the commencement of work on the Nchiraa-Anyiman road,construction of a Community Day Senior High School fully furnished with tables and chairs and donation of a bus among others.
He assured government of the support of the chiefs and people of Nchiraa and their readiness to vote massively for President Mahama and the NDC parliamentary candidate of the area on December 7.
On his part, the Chief of Staff, Mr Julius Debrah told the colourful crowd of spirited NDC supporters and sympathisers that President Mahama has laid the foundation of infrastructural development in all the critical sectors of the economy under his first term.
He said the president is seeking a second term in office to create opportunities: the creation of more jobs ,massive investment in agriculture and others which would put money in the pockets of Ghanaians especially the youth.
According to Mr Debrah,President Mahama is an action man who delivers on his promise and would make Ghana a better place for all under his second term through transformative and progressive policies contained in the 2016 NDC manifesto,hence the need to vote for him on December 7.
The Communications Director of the NDC,Mr Solomon Nkansah, told the people that claims made by the opposition NPP that the NDC is misappropriating tax payers' monies are unfounded and deliberately spread to cause disaffection for President Mahama and the ruling party.
He assured the people that their taxes are being used judiciously in providing infrastructure and other services in the sectors of education ,health, energy,roads amongst others.
He described Akufo-Addo as a liar if he claims he loves the people of Ghana but hate Paul Afoko and other members of the NPP that he orchestrated their sacking and attacks.
Mr Nkansah charged the people of the area to increase their voter turnout from the 2012 elections results by voting massively for the NDC and decrease the NPP's on election day.
The campaign team later visited Subinso,Buoku and Chiraa, where they addressed the chiefs and people at various rallies and drummed the changing lives and transforming Ghana message with a call on them to retain the NDC in power.
The Brong Ahafo Regional Minister,Mr Eric Opoku; former Regional Minister ,Kwadwo Nyamekye Marfo; Deputy Communication Minister,Mr Ato Sarpong; Deputy Youth Organiser,Kobby Barlon ,Peter Otokunor, NDC regional and constituency executives among other dignitaries are part of the Chief of Staff's delegation.
