The deputy General-Secretary for the main opposition National Democratic Congress has admitted that the “incompetent” labelling of the erstwhile government in the run-up to the 2016 elections contributed to their defeat.
In an appearance on GHOne TV’s current Affairs show State of Affairs Wednesday night, Koku Anyidoho stated mentioned that the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who eventually won the general elections “did a good job of it.”
According to him, Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia’s continuous hammering on it at every opportunity as well as other party big wigs made an impact on the elections.
He then added: “For me, if you do the analysis, over 1million of our voters did not come out to vote. We have a healthy base that did not come out to vote which we need to work on.”
Communication
Anyidoho also conceded that “we [NDC] didn’t communicate well; we didn’t reach out well on certain issues” but rejected talks suggesting that the party is imploding.
“People have the right to speak issues. What is happening is that we have a political party that is allowing people to speak their minds at this time,” he told Nana Aba Anamoah.
