Embattled PNC General Secretary Atik Mohammed says the opposition National Democratic Congress has lost the moral right to speak about confusion in other parties as part of their campaign messages, moving into 2020.
The NDC, then in power, accused the then opposition New Patriotic Party for the internal wrangling in their party, and told Ghanaians to reject them at the polls -because they are unfit to govern the country.
Ahead of the elections in 2016, the NPP was forced to suspend high profile party members including National Chairman Paul Afoko and General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong, for allegedly fueling the internal confusion in the party.
heir suspension became a major campaign tool for the NDC who said the then opposition was unfit to lead a united Ghana, because of their disunity.
Mr. Mahama further accused Nana Akufo Addo of intolerance because he does not take criticisms as a man.
“He should learn to accept criticism, I do, people insult me, vilify me, I don’t utter a word. And so when I say you cannot unify your party so you cannot unify Ghana and I think that the kind of president Ghana needs at this stage in our history is one who can bring us together. And so you must prove a track record that you can bring people together and most people do not think that he can do that,” he added.
But less than a year after losing power in a humiliating manner, the NDC had suffered one confusion or the other, including the latest attack on the party’s founder Jerry John Rawlings, who was described by Valerie Sawyerr as an “agitated mosquito” who buzzes for nothing.
But the internal confusion has come as a shock to most people because of the “unity” the NDC trumpeted during the elections.
