Posters of former mayor of Accra Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije have started circulating the streets of Abelekuma South where the MP heads.

The posters emerged after he announced his readiness as the favorite candidate to head the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2020 elections.

The posters were first captured on Social Media over the weekend as sympathizers of the MP posted the images on their Facebook walls.

However, on Monday the posters were in town already as some were captured on walls, commercial cars, sign boards and others, Ghanaweb can state.

The inscription on the poster reads ‘Our Hope for 2020 Okoe Vanderpuije, a true party man, grassroots man, Visionary and experienced.

In another poster, it also describes the Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South as “The man you can trust, humble, grassroots man, true party man, experienced, unifier and visionary.”

Mr. Vanderpuije was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly in 2009 by the late president John Evans Atta Mills and he occupied the post until 2016.

Earlier this year in June, Ghanaweb reported that Vanderpuije, had declared his readiness to support former president John Dramani Mahama if the latter decides to run in 2020.

However, John Mahama has not publicly stated his if he wants to contest in the forthcoming elections.

Another question is also that will Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije to take over from the party’s 2016 flag bearer? Maybe be only time will tell.
