President Akufo-Addo yesterday received the Letters of Credence of five foreign envoys assigned to Ghana by their countries.
They include the newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Shi Tin Wang and her colleagues from Myanmar, Myint Swe’s and Bangladesh, Sultana Hossain.
The rest are the newly appointed Ugandan High Commissioner to Ghana, Nelson Ocheger and the Philipino Ambassador to Ghana, Shirley Ho-Vicario.
The five were at the presidency (Jubilee House) to officially introduce themselves to the President.
They expressed their commitments to work with the government and help develop the relationship between Ghana and their respective countries while expanding the frontiers of trade and cooperation.
Each of them promised to help increase trade volumes and cooperation in areas such as agriculture, technical expertise, textile, culture and tourism.
The envoys applauded the government and people of Ghana for their commitment to the tenets of democracy and good governance.
They expressed their confidence in the future prospects of Ghana developing in an atmosphere of peace and security.
In welcoming the envoys, President Akufo-Addo indicated his preparedness to work with them to improve the relations between Ghana and their respective countries.
He enumerated some of the benefit Ghana has received from its ties with their nations, especially the construction of the Bui Dam which was supported by the Chinese government and expressed the country’s appreciation.
He assured them that Ghana was open to expanding its trade and economic relations with their respective countries while deepening the existing diplomatic and cultural ties between them.
He also supported proposals for the need to explore new areas of cooperation between countries, indicating his government’s commitment in that regard.
