An aspiring Regional Secretary for the National Democratic Congress, James Gunu, is promising to contribute his expertise towards awakening the party’s administration in the Volta Region.

According to him, the NDC has suffered some administration deficiencies over the past years.

This, he said led to the widespread of apathy among sympathizers of the NDC in the Volta Region, which resulted in the party losing votes in the 2016 elections.

He also indicated that there is a wide gap between the party’s top hierarchy and the grassroots, describing the development as distasteful and unhealthy for the NDC.

Speaking to Ghanaweb in Ho, Mr Gunu promised to rationalize and institutionalize recommendations of the Prof. Kwesi Botchway Committee to enhance the prospects of the NDC in winning the 2020 elections.

He also aims to make the NDC in the Volta Region more vibrant by working in unity with all stakeholders to enhance repair the crack between the grassroots and the top hierarchy.

He said “I would contribute to give meaning to political administration in Volta NDC and make the party vibrant as we prepare rigorously towards victory in 2020 and beyond.

“I will also bring forth an innovative grassroots political administration in the Volta Region and ensure the grassroots enjoy the fruit of their labour.”

Mr Gunu served as NDC Branch Chairman for 150/1 Lagos Town – Effia Constituency between 2000 and 2004 before proceeding to become the Effia NDC Constituency Treasure from 2004 to 2008.

He was part of the NDC Campaign Team in the Akatsi North and South Constituencies in the Volta Region in the 2012 electioneering.

He was appointed the Akatsi North District Chief Executive in April 2013 under the Mahama administration. His mandate expired in January 2017.
