Ashaiman, Oct. 31 GNA - Mr Hackman Owusu -Agyeman, Minister of the Interior, on Saturday launched the New Patriotic Party (NPP) electioneering campaign of the Ashaiman Constituency and said the Party preferred evolution to a revolution.

The Party would, therefore, gradually develop the entire nation equally without discrimination to the satisfaction of all saying that it had achieved a lot within its almost four years administration compared to the 20 years rule of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Mr Owusu-Agyeman, who is the MP for Effiduase, said the NPP's Governance had seen a dramatic change in the system and mentioned some of the achievements as construction of roads and schools and the provision of working tools to the security agencies among other things which should be convincing enough for Ghanaians to return the Party to power to enable it to continue with its good work.

The Interior Minister urged Ghanaians to go about their duties without fear or hindrance, as the security agencies were fair but firm. He warned that as much as the Government would not adopt the practice of intimidation it would not tolerate lawlessness.

People who breach the law with impunity would be dealt with drastically.

He referred to President John Agyekum Kufuor as being slow but sure.

He said: "The President does not talk but works very hard to achieve his aim. He does not reply to insults because he knows what he is about."

Mr Owusu-Agyeman said because of his hard work and good governance President Kufuor was highly recognised and respected at the international level.

He called on the electorate to vote massively for the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Ashaiman, Mr Emmanuel K. Teye. The Chairman of the Ethnic Chiefs at Ashaiman, Bunape Wura Adam Salifu advised Muslim youth to comport themselves before, during and after the electioneering and never allow themselves to be used by politicians for violence in order not to tarnish the image of the "Zongo People".

Bunape Salifu, who is the Gonja Chief at Ashaiman, said: "Teye has not given me money but a good thing sells itself."

Mr Teye, Incumbent MP, enumerated a number of development projects he had facilitated to include construction of gutters and toilets and providing resources for the Ashaiman Police.

The MP entreated the electorate to vote for him again to continue with his next projects like the construction of a post office, stadium and a hospital.
