NPP supporters urged to contribute towards the running of the party

Mpraeso (E/R), March 27, GNA - The Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama has called on the supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to contribute resources towards the running of the party.

He said, since the party was formed from individuals' sacrifices, the task ahead could only be accomplished through greater sacrifice, unity and respect for one another. Alhaji Mahama was speaking at the re-launching of NPP Chapter Two

Fund-Raising Dinner at Mpraeso in the Kwahu South District to finance the party.

Tickets with the face value of 10,000 cedis would be sold to the general public for a draw to be held in July 2005, with the winner taking home a Peugeot 307 saloon car and other consolation prizes.

The Vice President said the government, under President John Agyekum Kufuor, would remains a reference point of good governance for all future governments of the country, since Ghanaians have tested a government of humane, tolerant, transparent and accountable to the people.

He noted that there was a new Ghana, recognized and respected across the globe, as a civilized country in the comity of nations, where real freedom and the rule of law have became the hallmarks of national life.

Alhaji Mahama took the opportunity to thank the entire membership of the party, the National, Regional and Constituency Officers and supporters for their contributions towards the victory of the party in the 2004 general elections.

The Chairman of the function, Paapa Owusu Ankomah, the Minister of Interior, called on all supporters to use the raffle to contribute towards the organization of the party throughout the country for it to win all future elections.

Other party members, who attended the function included Mr Osafo Maafo, Minister of Education and Sports, Mr Hackman Owusu Agyemang, Minister for Works and Housing, Nana Adi Ankama, Eastern Regional Chairman of NPP and Mr Kwadwo Afare, the party's Press Secretary.
