A presidential staffer, Alex Martey, has emerged as parliamentary aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ningo Prampram Constituency.
Mr. Martey polled 269 votes against his contender Rita Akweley Addotey, who got 207 votes out of total votes cast in the NPP parliamentary primary for orphan constituencies.
The NPP has not won the seat in Ningo Prampram since 1992 and is seeking to annex the seat come 2020.
Mr. Martey, who works with the Operations Directorate at the Jubilee House, has promised to embark on a mission to get the seat for the NPP.
He will contend the NDC’s Sam George, who is currently the Member of Parliament for the area.
The Management Consultant by profession is certain delegates made the right choice by voting him against his contender, Rita Addotey, and is confident he will lead the party to parliament for the Ningo Prampram constituency come December 2020.
The NPP’s parliamentary primaries is being held in 100 orphan constituencies across the country.
