Jasikan Youth, Chiefs Blast NPP Executives

Tue, 12 Apr 2005 Source: --

The Buem Youth branch of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the Chiefs in the Buem Traditional Area, have blasted the Buem and Biakoye constituency executives of the NPP for positions taken on the re-appointment or otherwise of the acting District Chief Executive (DCE) for Jasikan, Mr Solomon Kwame Donkor.

In a reaction to petitions sent to the Presidency by the executives of the two constituencies calling for the removal of Mr Donkor, the youth said the move was contemptuous and vehemently condemned it. The youth said at this time of the history of the country where all districts are moving forward some selfish individuals have adopted such an approach that could thwart the efforts of those in authority.

"It is rather unfortunate that in this crucial moment of the history of Ghana where all districts are moving forward some impetuous, unscrupulous and self-appointed gentlemen who have lust for power and over zealous of personal ambitions go round using evil means and iconoclastic approach to thwart the effort of people in responsible positions," the Buem NPP Youth said.

They described the allegations leveled against the acting Jasikan DCE as baseless and misleading, which should be ignored by all serious minded people. "It is against this background that we the NPP youth of Buem constituency are telling the whole world and Ghana in particular that all the allegations leveled against the DCE were baseless, unfounded and above all seriously misleading," the statement issued by the Youth stated.

The Youth said development cannot be achieved in a situation of rampant canes in leadership, which derails developmental agenda of predecessors and called on President Kufuor to maintain Mr Donkor since he has not finished his four years.

"Since no development can take place where there is rampant change in leadership, we the NPP Youth of Buem constituency are calling on his Excellency the President of Ghana to maintain Mr Solomon Donkor who has only served about one and half years in office for continuity for a better Jasikan District."
