Carlos Ahenkorah, the Member of Parliament for Tema West constituency and the Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry says even though political parties spend a lot during an election season, the ruling administration won't fall prey to that.

"Most political parties want to impress people during election times and most often when those monies are not budgeted for it becomes a problem. I, however, have the hope that with works done by the Finance Minister so far, if we are to continue like that, we will be able to stand on our feet . . ." he said on UTV's morning show, 'Adekye Nsroma'.

The MP was reacting to a caution from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The IMF has advised the government to craft and execute its 2020 budget carefully to avoid overspending.

“While 2020 budget preparations are ongoing, the mission underlined the need to adopt an appropriately tight budget to limit financing needs, contain debt build-up, and support the external position,” a statement from the IMF said.

According to the Deputy Minister, the IMF is "right to make those projections but I don’t think Ken Ofori-Atta will sit for all his hard work to go wasted."
