One of the leaders of the Committee For Joint Action (CJA), Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has denied media reports that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is considering opting out of the group.

According to Mr. Ofosu Ampofo, the NDC is still a part of the Committee which has both NDC and non-NDC members on it and has been used as a pressure group against some policies by the government.

According to the newspaper story carried in the Free Press of today, the founder of NDC, Flt Lt. Jerry Rawlings has directed that the NDC should be withdrawn from the CJA immediately since it has failed to achieve its aim as a pressure group. The paper further alleged that the ex-president is not happy because the leadership of the CJA has been hijacked by certain people who are non-members of the NDC.

The story mentioned the names of Mr. Kwesi Pratt, Danny Ofori Atta and Alhaji Ahmed Ramadan of the CPP, Egle Party and PNC respectively, as those who have hijacked the CJA. Mr. Ofosu Ampofo who is also the national organiser of NDC, said the ex-president has continually showed support in demonstrations organised by the CJA, and described the story as a plot to nib the activities of the CJA in the bud.
