District Assembly endorses DCE

Kpeve,(V/R), June 23, GNA-Mrs Woyram Boachie-Danquah, 48, the President's Nominee for the new South Dayi District was on Thursday confirmed by 17 out of the 18 Assembly Members present as the District Chief Executive (DCE).

Mrs Boachie-Danquah, who failed to poll the two-third of the votes cast by Assembly Members for her confirmation 10 days ago, this time secured the 17 votes representing 100 per cent of total votes cast at an election supervised by the Regional Directorate of the Electoral Commission. Mrs Boachie-Danquah an administrator was grateful to the President and the Assembly Members for the trust repose in her and promised to team up with the assembly members to tap human and natural resources of the area for development.

Judge Justin Dorgu, a Circuit Court Judge in Kpando who swore the new DCE into office, earlier swore five new government appointees also into office.

Briefing newsmen after her confirmation, Mrs Boachie-Danquah promised to justify the confidence reposed in her by cooperating with all stakeholders of the Assembly to raise it from its current deprivation and poor status to that of a progressive and developed one. Mrs Boachie-Danquah, who is also a member of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Decentralisation said one of her visions was to develop Dzemeni a fishing community into an inland fishing port and also use the portrait of the late Dr Ephraim Amu for tourist attractions to generate income for the new district.

Mr Joseph Nayan, Deputy Volta Regional Minister asked all stakeholders of the Assembly to work as a team to accelerate development in the area.
