Chief Executive Officer of Joy Foundation Joy Jocelyn Andoh has stated that her decision to contest the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primary in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Constituency of the Western Region is to continue to give hope to the less privileged.
According to her, once she becomes the Member of Parliament for Tarkwa Nsuaem, she will be in pole position to be able to attract bigger funds to support her humanitarian works.
Joy Jocelyn Andoh is challenging the Member of Parliament for the Tarkwa Nsuaem Constituency George Mireku Duker, who is serving his first term.
Due to difficulties at the Tarkwa Nsuaem Constituency Office, Joy had to pick and file her nomination forms at the party’s regional office in Takoradi.
In an exclusive interview with 3news.com, Joy described herself as a unifier and said despite her challenge in Tarkwa, she is ready to work with anyone in the constituency who believes in her vision.
“The world is a better place when you can put a smile on the less fortunate one day at a time,” she said.
“I exist to give hope to the hopeless, voice to the voiceless and a home for the lost,” she added.
In keeping with her vision in life, Joy Jocelyn Andoh established the Joy Foundation, a non-governmental organization, four years ago.
Since the establishment of her NGO, she has supported thousands of people especially widows, brilliant but needy students, the aged, the physically challenged and people with special needs in diverse ways.
Her foundation has offered scholarships, donated educational materials, giving seed money for apprenticeship and skills development, giving soft loans and career advice to her target persons.
She said her decision to contest the parliamentary primaries is to help create sustainable and dignified job opportunities for the teeming youth in the constituency in order to improve their living standards.
“I know I am doing a lot but I’m convinced that I can do a lot more once I become the MP. With that recognition, I will be able to lobby for both government and donor support to be able to offer a sustained and more defined help to the less endowed.”
She assured that she will run a campaign that will keep the party intact even after the primaries.
“A campaign of division, rancor and bitterness are far away from me. There is no way I or anyone who is part of my campaign is engaging in anything of a sort. Remember this is an internal contest. So, why will I or anyone close to me engage in any conduct that will be detrimental to this our great party. NPP stands for unity. NPP stands for the truth. These are the values that our great party was built on. I will never depart from them because I believe in the party and in it values. Even if it was not an internal contest, I certainly will not have participated in any undemocratic conduct.”
