Kumasi, Nov.09, GNA - The Tafo constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Tuesday returned the eight-member executive Committee into office unopposed at its delegates' congress at Tafo. They are Mr Abubakar H. Addisah, Chairman, Alhaji Abdul Karim Yakubu, First Vice-Chairman, Mr Mohammed Baba, Secretary and Mr Fuseini Adamu, Organiser.

Others are Mr Abubakar Adams, Youth Organiser, Mrs Jemima Marfo, Women's Organiser, Mr King Naparo, Treasurer and Mr Alidu Issaka, Propaganda Secretary.

Addressing the delegates after the elections, Mr Peter Yaw Mensah, a leading member of the NDC in Ashanti expressed concern about the increasing petty squabbles and conflicts within the party that had affected the growth of the party.

He said victory of the party in 2008 demanded collective efforts and dedication of the executives and the rank and file to work harder. Mr Mensah therefore, urged the supporters to bury their differences and support the executives to improve on the performance of the party.

Mr Emmanuel Nti-Fordjour, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NDC said factionalism; back-biting; rumour-mongering and other negative practices had impeded the strength and development of the party. He advised the executives and supporters to avoid such practices and adopt effective measures and strategies for the party to win the 2008 elections.

Mr Oscar Ampemah-Baah, Kumasi Metropolitan Electoral Officer who swore the executives into office, asked them to work as a team with the supporters to run the affairs of the party.

Mr Baba, Secretary-elect on behalf of the executives stressed the need for unity and co-operation of the supporters to enable them work effectively and diligently.
