The District Chief Executive for Twifo-Heman Lower-Denkyira, Mr. Abraham Dwuma Odoom has cut the sod for the commencement of work on a ten thousand dollar day care centre at Twifo-Heman in the Central Region.

The Afro-Asian Rural Development Organisation (AARDO) is funding the centre, which will comprise four classrooms, resting rooms, changing rooms and kitchen. The organisation is an international agency committed to the well being of rural people in Africa and Asia.

The first instalment of $3,000 was transferred to the district assembly early last week to and the remaining amount is expected to be in before the end of the year. The construction of the day care centre will replace an old structure, which was constructed about four years ago.

Speaking at the sod cutting ceremony the District Chief Executive called for support from the community to ensure the early completion of the project for the benefit of the children. He advised the chiefs and people to invest in the education of their children because they are national assets.

Mr. Odoom invited the investors in agriculture and tourism industries to come to the district because it has arable land and many tourist sites yet to be tapped.

Nana Amandi I, the Gyase Queen Mother of the town praised the district assembly for selecting the town for the project. She pledged the assistance of the women in the area by way of communal labour to speed up work on the day care centre.

Present at the sod cutting ceremony were the two Assemblymembers in the town, Town Councillors, Unit Committee members and representatives of traditional authorities.
