110 Unit Committee Members inaugurated at Half Assini

Half Assini(W/R), June 19, GNA - The Western Regional Minister, Mr Paul Evans Aidoo has urged Unit Committee members in the region to make themselves abreast with government policies and programs.

Mr Aidoo said this in an address read for him by the Jomoro District Coordinating Director, Mr Adu Yaw Asamoah, at the inauguration of 110 Unit Committee members in the Jomoro District at Half Assini.

He said they could listen to radio and read the newspapers to equip themselves with government programs and educate the people in their various electoral areas.

Mr Aidoo said it is when the people are aware of their responsibilities and rights that they would be able to contribute towards the development of the nation.

He said the Unit Committees form the basic democratization and hoped that this time they would function properly towards the sustainability of the decentralization policy.

He asked them to command respect, disciplined and law abiding and advocate for peace and development.

Mr Francis Ehwie Armah, Presiding Member of the Jomoro District Assembly who chaired the occasion appealed Unit committee members to cooperate with their various Assembly Members to facilitate the development of their areas.

He urged them to be humble and try to solve problems instead of creating them.

Executives for ten Area Councils were elected at the ceremony.
