At least 13 people have reportedly been arrested for allegedly putting up illegal structures on parts of the Laboma and Teshie Military shooting range within the Kpeshie Lagoon area in the La Dade-Kotopon municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

According to a report by citinewsroom.com, the arrests were effected during an inspection of the site by the Greater Accra Regional Security Council (REGSEC).

The report indicated that the REGSEC team, which was led by the Chairman of the REGSEC and Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, found portions of the Kpeshie Lagoon filled with structures at various stages of construction.

Addressing the media, Titus-Glover said that the 13 persons were arrested to help find the owners of the structures that are being developed on the land.

“They were picked up because we wanted to get the right people who own these structures. Some are ordinary workers; when you ask them, they will tell you that they were sent here to work.

“So, as we have picked them, they are in the hands of the police, and they will go through the process, and whoever asked them to come and work should be able to produce them. When they do, they will be given bail, and then the law will take its course,” he is quoted to have said.

The minister also indicated that they are going to pull down all the structures being illegally developed in the affected area.

He also invited all people who have structures on the affected land to help authorities with information on people who sold the lands to them.
