2018 BECE progresses peacefully in Western Region

The 2018 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) commenced in earnest within the Western Region without any notable mishap.

The Region, this year, presented 53, 486 candidates including 28,225 boys and 25,263 girls representing 1655 schools writing in 177 centers.

In the Sekondi/Takoradi alone, 7763 candidates were supposed to write the examination.

The Ghana News Agency during a visit to some of the centre recorded that the examinations were proceeding as expected with invigilators and supervisor all fully geared to perform their duties.

The Takoradi Senior High School, the Bompeh School, Ghana Secondary Technical, the Saint John’s school where the GNA visited did not record any challenges with regards to the examination.

Candidates were seen confidently seated to write their paper during the time of visit.

Ms Catherine Andoh-Mensah the Metropolitan Education Public Relations Officer, urged all candidates to eat well, dress well avoid sending foreign materials to the examination hall.

She called on pregnant pupils not to shy away but sit for the examination to enable them to progress to the next level of their academic ladder.
