The chiefs and people of the Agotime Traditional Area, under the auspices of the Konor, Nene Nuer Keteku IV, in the Volta Region of Ghana, have announced that all preparations are complete for the 2024 Agotime Kente Festival (Agbamevor Za).

This culturally rich event, celebrated annually, took off successfully on Sunday, August 4, and is expected to be crowned on Sunday, August 11, 2024.

It is being celebrated under the theme “Repositioning the Kente Heritage for Inclusive Development.”

The Grand Durbar for the celebration is slated for Saturday, August 10, 2024, commencing at exactly 9 am at the GRA Park, Agotime Kpetoe.

The festival will be honored by the presence of government representatives, ministers, members of parliament, distinguished chiefs and queen mothers, members of the diplomatic corps, captains of industry, and tourists from around the world.

The festival will feature diverse activities, including a football gala, a health walk, a quiz competition, a women's and children’s day mini durbar, a godigbe (historic day of landing), a Kente weaving competition, a heroes and heroes’ day, an Asialetorme (Maidens Water Fetching Rite), a Miss Kente pageant, a food bazaar, a street carnival, a grand durbar, and an interdenominational Thanksgiving church service, among others.

The 2024 Festival promises to be an unforgettable cultural experience, celebrating the beauty and heritage of the Kente cloth while fostering inclusive development for the Agotime Traditional Area.

"We are prepared, and Agotime is ready to once again host the world for another grand celebration of a truly Ghanaian festival: the Agotime Kente Festival."

"On behalf of the Konor, the chiefs, and the people of the 37 towns and villages of Agotime, Ghana, and Togo, we cordially invite you to join us in witnessing the celebration of the cultural and economic values of the Kente Cloth."

"This is Ghana’s most prestigious festival, and we eagerly anticipate your participation. Come in large numbers and let us celebrate the Kente heritage together," stated Mr. Elvis Ativoe, the National Coordinator of Agbamevor Za 2024.
