2024 Elections: Afram Plains chiefs and religious leaders root for NPP

Chiefs and religious leaders in the Afram Plains of the Eastern Region have resolved to change their voting pattern on December 7, 2024.

According to them, the National Democratic Congress, the party they’ve always voted for, has done little to nothing to better their living conditions.

The NPP, they stated, has rather shown a strong commitment to meeting their developmental needs despite the unfavorable electoral outcomes.

At a durbar of chiefs, religious leaders, representatives of identifiable groups, and community leaders held in Donkorkrom, Afram Plains, to welcome the NPP running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, and his entourage on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, the chiefs recounted some social interventions and infrastructure projects undertaken by the NPP in their community which surpass the NDC’s record.

The community leaders, Nana Akuamoa Boateng Tano II, the chief of Atakora; Alhaji Fuseini Osman, Chief Imam of Donkorkrom; and Rev. Dr. Caleb Daribi, Chairman of the Local Council of Churches at Afram Plains, unanimously observed that despite voting massively for the NDC for the past 32 years, Afram Plains has seen little progress from their favorite party.

They expressed gratitude to the ruling NPP, citing the digitization of public services, Free SHS, NHIS, Agenda 111, electricity extension projects, ongoing road constructions, and the District Roads Improvement Programme (DRIP) machines among others as some of the government’s interventions that have benefited them tremendously.

They therefore appealed to the residents to vote massively for the NPP presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and the party’s parliamentary candidates for Afram Plains North and South constituencies, Asiamah Anim and Jacob Zineyele, respectively, to continue their good works.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh used the occasion to debunk the false reports peddled by NDC MP for Afram Plains North, Betty Nana Efua Krosbi, who claims it was her share of the common funds that was used to procure the DRIP machines for the constituency.

NAPO recounted that during his tenure as Energy minister, he had extended electricity to 35 communities in the Afram Plains enclave among other infrastructure projects undertaken by the NPP government.

He pleaded with the people of Afram Plains to repose their confidence in the NPP when they go to the polls on December 7, 2024, and assured them that the NPP will not let them down.
