207 pupils, teachers attend classes in the open

Adankronno-Kade (E/R), April 29, GNA - Two hundred and seven (207) pupils and teachers of Akim Adonkronno AME Zion Primary School are now attending classes in the open, following a heavy rainstorm, which ripped off the roofs of their six-classroom block during the Easter holidays. The school, which is made up of 127 girls and 8o boys and their teachers have been going through the ordeal of teaching and learning in the open and other associated problems since the disaster.

The rainstorm destroyed books and learning material estimated at about five million cedis.

Speaking to the GNA, Mr Edward Boateng Ampadu, the assistant headteacher said, this is the second time this year that a rainstorm had ripped off the roofs of schools, adding that, the AME JSS building was also ripped off in January this year.

The teachers of the school have therefore appealed to the district assembly, the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and other benevolent organisations and individuals to come to their aid to re-roof the school block in the shortest possible time.
