23-year-old driver in police grip for murder

Hohoe, Feb. 3 GNA - A 23-year-old driver, Daniel Sior, a native of Botoku near Vakpo in the Kpando district is helping the Hohoe police about the murder of a 19-year-old unemployed last Monday.

According to Police Superintendent James Abass, Hohoe District Police commander, at about 11.20 a.m. last Monday, Sior and the victim, Frank Madugu engaged in a fight at Segbe-Deme, a suburb of Hohoe. He said according to an eye-witness accounts, the deceased slapped the younger brother of the suspect and when the suspect demanded an explanation from the victim he was also slapped.

Supt. Abass said the suspect collected a knife from a nearby house and stabbed Madugu on the chest.

He said Madugu was rushed to the Hohoe Government Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Hohoe Government Hospital mortuary for post mortem examination.
