The Wife of the Vice President, Mrs. Matilda Amissah-Arthur, has donated bags of rice and sugar to the Muslim community in the Efutu Municipality in Winneba towards the Ramadan period and to support them carry-out their month-long Ramadan fasting.

Presenting the items to the leader of the Muslim community at the residency of the Municipal Chief Executive of the area, Mrs. Matilda Amissah-Arthur said the donation was her kind gesture to Muslims in the community to help the less-privileged during the Ramadan.

Mrs Amissah–Arthur said the items were her widow’s mite to support needy Muslims undergoing spiritual cleansing during the period, considered as one of the pillars in the Islamic calendar.

She asked Muslims to use the period to pray for the nation and the Government during the Ramadan period.

Receiving the items, the Imam of Winneba, thanked Mrs. Matilda Amissah –Arthur wife of the Vice President for her kind gesture and promised to urge his followers to continue to pray for national peace.

He commended the wife of the Vice President for her support towards the less privileged in society and assured her that they would continue to play their roles as useful citizens for the country’s developmental drive.

He used the occasion to thank Allah for protecting the Government and Ghanaians.
