2nd Lady installed developmental queen mother in Volta region

Ghana’s second lady, Mrs Matilda Amissah-Arthur has been installed as a developmental queen mother of Logba-Adzakoe in the Volta Region.

Mrs Amissah-Arthur’s installation at the weekend was prompted by her contribution towards the development of Logba-Adzakoe Traditional Area, particularly her support for the people of Akpana.

She now assumes the stool name, Unandze Afan Eshi or Mamaga Afeamenyo I.

Addressing the people in the area at a durbar to raise funds for the Akpana Education Fund, Mrs Amissah-Arthur reiterated the essence of education which she noted is key to the development in all aspect of our lives.

The fund seeks to provide scholarships to brilliant but underprivileged children in the area to pursue their education.

Mrs Amissah-Arthur who was there to support the initiative called on others to support the fund by raising enough money to sponsor brilliant but needy school children. She commended the people for the initiative.

Meanwhile, she used the occasion to donate educational materials, including books and laptop computers to the Logba-Adzakoe RC Primary and Junior High Schools.

The primary school has been in existence since 1946 and its middle school, established in 1969 was changed to Junior High School in 1987. The school scored 100 per cent in the BECE in 2014 and 2015.

The Chiefs, queen mothers and the people expressed gratitude to Mrs Amissah-Arthur for the kind gesture which they said would go a long way to help the school in maintain its 100 per cent record in BECE.

Chairman of the Ghana Library Board, Mr Kosi Kedem underscored the need for the people of Akpana to embrace the fund and make it a success.

The Paramount Chief of Logba Traditional area, Togbega Dabra on his part said he has been able to climb the education ladder through scholarships, hence urged managers of the Akpana Education scholarship manage it well to help brilliant but underprivileged children in the area.
