Three persons are in the grips of the Ashanti regional Police command for engaging in robbery at Nyinahin.

The suspects were arrested at their hideouts upon police intelligence on Thursday January 18, 2018, at Appiakrom a village near Nyinahin.

They include Dramani Seidu,24, Richard Bromyiwa, 25, and Joseph Gyimah alias Agyaku, 24.

The suspects wielding two single barrel guns laid ambush at the Asenayo forest, fired and stopped a driver in charge of a 207 sprinter Benz passenger bus with registration number WR844-X.

They ordered the driver to stop, where they then ordered the passengers out of the vehicle and asked them to lie down.

They took over twenty mobile phones and unspecified amount of money from the driver and the passengers.

Addressing journalists, the police said the three suspects were involved in an armed robbery incident that took place at the Asanayo forest on the Afepaye-Nyinahin trunk road on Monday January 15, 2018 at about 4:30am.

‘A search in their rooms revealed two single barrel guns, two BB cartridges, one AA cartridge, twenty assorted mobile phones, seven wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, one thousand three hundred and fifty Ghana cedis, one lighter, a torchlight and sachet of tramadol capsules,’ the police explained.

The suspects who admitted to the crime are in police custody assisting in investigations.

The police assured their resolve to fight crime to the barest minimum and prosecute all criminals when arrested to serve as deterrent to other would-be- criminals.
