Daboase (W/R) Jan. 17, GNA- Mr Edward Tawiah-Amprofi, District Chief Executive of the Mpohor Wassa East, has called on facilitators of the Non-Formal Education Division (NFED) of the Ministry of Education, to re-dedicate themselves to the task of educating the high number of adult illiterates in the country.
He said the role of the facilitators was enormous hence the need for them to show commitment to duty.
Mr Tawiah-Ampofo made the call during presentation of incentive packages to 35 adult literacy facilitators at Daboase. The awards comprised bicycles, roofing sheets and sewing machines. At the same ceremony, the National Disaster Management Organisation, presented a bicycle each to its eight zonal coordinators.
Mr Assaa Mensah, District Coordinator of NFED said the organisation had trained a number of people who can now read and write adding: "Some have started their own businesses and are keeping proper records". He said currently there were 1,006 new learners enrolled in the District while 107 facilitators have been recruited.
