Thirty seven teachers and non teaching staff of the Nafana Presbyterian Senior High school in the Brong Ahafo Region, say they have not been paid for six months.

According to the teachers, all efforts to get their salaries from the Controller and Accountant General's Department have proved futile.

The affected teachers have not been paid between two and six months, some as far back as February this year. It is however unclear what has may have led to the situation.

After several efforts, a few of the workers received their salaries for June but not in full.

The development has resulted in most of the teachers defaulting in the payment of their utility bills, rent and other family obligations.

It is also affecting effective teaching and learning as moral has waned drastically.

The Jaman South District Assembly had to release some eight thousand cedis to the affected teachers as soft loans to be paid back when they receive their salaries.

They affected teachers are thus pleading with the Ministry of Education and the Controller and Accountant General's Department to rectify the difficulty as soon as possible.

"With all the efforts by the school authorities including the district director of education nothing has happened to get our six months salaries".

"I think whoever is involved for us to get our money should do it very quickly because some of us here are not having things easy at all" a frustrated teacher lamented.
