500 unemployed youth register in Fanteakwa

Begoro (E/R), July 26, GNA - Over 500 unemployed youth have been registered in the Fanteakwa District under the National Youth Employment Programme.

The District Chief Executive, Mr Ebenezer Ofoe Caesar, who made this known at an assembly meeting at Begoro on Tuesday, said the registered youth are to be trained in various vocational and technical skills to enable them to secure jobs.

He said 412 youth are to be trained in "Youth in Agriculture", 61 as Health Care Assistants and 108 to be trained as Teaching Assistants in the district.

Mr. Ceasar said a District Employment Task Force had been constituted to see to the effective implementation of the programme, saying only 45 per cent of registered voters checked their names during the recent display of the voters register. He announced that five basic schools have been selected to benefit from phase one of the NEPAD School Feeding Programme in the district. The schools are Bepoase Methodist Primary, Obooho D/A Primary, Asirebuso D/A Primary, Petefour D/A Primary and Abuorso R/C Primary School.

He said the assembly is currently constructing a kitchen complex at Bepoase Methodist Primary for the take-off of the programme on a pilot bases.
