A seven-year-old boy, Blessing Yemo Twotwoo, tragically lost his life from electrocution at Gyedi-Kyekyewere, a suburb of Bibiani in the Western North Region.

Speaking on Adom TV and monitored by GhanaWeb, Comfort Akua Nyamekye, the mother, recalled how she received the distressing news of her son's death while she was preparing soup for the family.

She expressed profound shock and devastation over the incident.

"I was cooking when I heard my son crying, initially thinking his sister had beaten him. It was later that his elder sister informed me about his death. I am truly devastated; I want my child back. He touched an exposed electrical cable," she stated.

Yaw Gyebi, assemblyman for the area, assured that measures have been taken to prevent such incidents from happening again.

"We have instructed the owner of the place where the incident occurred to remove all the cables. The assembly is also implementing additional measures," he stated.

He also emphasised the importance of parental vigilance in supervising children, urging parents to be more attentive to prevent similar tragedies.

The community is hopeful that steps will be taken to ensure the safety of children in Bibiani and beyond.
