Twelve projects including school blocks, clinics, market-stalls and stores valued at 800 million cedis have been completed in the Adansi East District of Ashanti Region. The projects were carried out under the second phase of the Fifth European Union/Government of Ghana (EU/GOG) Micro Projects Programme.

Mr Dominic A.K. Yeboah, the District Chief Executive, announced this at New Edubiase last Wednesday when he inaugurated a 36-unit market stalls to mark the formal commissioning of all the micro projects in the District. The District Assembly contributed a total of 174 million cedis while the 12 beneficiary communities paid 90.6 million cedis towards the project with the rest coming from the EU.

Mr Yeboah said 11 more projects have been approved for the District under the third phase. He expressed concern about culture of maintenance and appealed to the beneficiary communities to take good care of the projects.

Mr Danso Frimpong, Technical Supervising Consultant of EU projects in Ashanti, said since 1997, 25 projects have been completed in the Adansi East District.

He, however, expressed misgivings about lack of communal spirit of some of the communities and appealed to those communities selected to benefit from the third phase to support the programme.

Nana Assiama Guahyia Ababio, the Edubiasehene who presided, commended the European Union (EU) for supporting the development of the District.
