Effiduase (Ash), March 14, GNA - Nana Adu Ameyaw, Chief of Effiduase in the Sekyere East District of Ashanti said on Sunday that with the final settlement of the 28-year-old chieftaincy dispute, a new chapter had been opened for the people. He has therefore called on his people to take advantage of the new chapter to unite and forge ahead for the development of the traditional area.
Speaking at a joint service organised by local churches at Effiduase to commemorate the return of peace to the area, which also coincided with the celebration of 'Akwasidae', Nana Ameyaw regretted that due to the chieftaincy dispute, no meaningful development had come to Effiduase. He said the communal spirit, which deserted the people in the wake of the dispute would be rekindled and that, this will start from the various divisions in the town and eventually cover the whole area. Nana Ameyaw therefore called on the people to bury their differences and unite to develop the area, since it was only through unity that this can be achieved.
Nana Adansi Bonnah, a linquist, who represented Daasebre Osei Bonsu, Mamponghene under whose jurisdiction Effiduase falls, called on the Queen Mother to strive to unite the people after the settlement of the dispute for the effective development of Effiduase. He said the Mamponhene was happy that, since the final settlement of the case by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, there has been no trouble in the town and urged the people to bury their differences, forget the past and put themselves to the task of developing the area. Nana Yiadom Konadu, the Queen Mother, gave thanks to God for the peace that had finally settled at Effiduase and expressed her profound gratitude to Otumfuo Osei Tutu for settling the dispute, which had polarised the people. She asked all those, who were in one way or the other offended during the protracted dispute to forgive her, since she had also forgiven all those, who also offended her in the course of the dispute. Nana Yiadom Konadu said this was the only way the area would forge ahead in development.
