Bolgatanga, Oct 7, GNA - The Anglican Diocesan Development and Relief Organization (ADDRO) has presented a table top refrigerator to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana police Service in the Upper East Region.

This is the organization's contribution to the unit for the constant collaboration between the two entities in the fight against domestic violence and other related crimes in the region. Mrs. Esther Amoako, Coordinator for the Gender and Development Programme at ADDRO who presented the gift, said collaboration with the police was vital in the fight against domestic violence and other related cases in the communities her outfit operates in.

She said culture played a major role in promoting domestic violence and there was the need for the police to continue with the collaboration to help do more education to nib domestic violence related cases in the bud. Superintendent of Police Edward Tabiri received the item and thanked ADDRO and said the police service was ready to collaborate with organizations such as ADDRO in the fight against domestic violence and other related crimes.

Mr. Tabiri, the Regional police Crime Officer, appealed to non-governmental organizations to assist the police since government alone could not bear the cost of running an effective police administration.
