ADRA provides 90 households KVIP to Gomoa, AES districts

Senya Beraku (C/R) April 1, GNA - The Adventists Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) has within the past fifteen years assisted in the provision of 90 KVIP places of convenience at some households in the Gomoa and Awutu-Effutu-Senya (AES) districts of the Central Region, under its health and nutrition programme.

The Winneba Zonal Field Officer of ADRA, Mr Isaac Kankam Buadu, who told the Ghana News Agency in an interview at Senya Beraku on Wednesday that twenty-five of the facilities are at Senya Beraku in the Awutu Effutu-Senya District.

Mr Kankam Buadu mentioned Gomoa Famanye, Gomoa Ogun, Gomoa Simbrofo, Gomoa Koforidua, and Gomoa Osedze, all in the Gomoa District as some of beneficiary communities.

He said beneficiary communities were expected to pay a commitment fee of 100,000.00 cedis towards the project but did not tell the cost of one KVIP.

Mr Kankam Buadu said that ADRA is assisting over 500 farmers in the two districts to establish their farms that had been inter-planted with cassia trees to protect the environment.

According to him ADRA supplied the farmer with improved varieties of cassava, maize and other crops to enable them have good harvest and earn more money.

ADRA is providing the farmers food for work and inputs for their farming activities, he said.

Mr Kankam Buadu said that ADRA has also introduced a weekly cleaning exercise in all the towns that it was operating to avoid outbreak of diseases.

He said to ensure good nutrition to children in the two districts, ADRA was encouraging cultivation of beans by the farmers working with it.
