ADRA provides thirteen Communities in C/R with boreholes

Gomoa Simbrofo (C/R), March 10, GNA - The Adventist Development And Relief Agency (ADRA), is providing 13 communities in the Gomoa and Awutu-Effutu-Senya districts with boreholes for potable water at the cost of 1.105 billion cedis.

Communities that would benefit from the project are expected to pay a commitment fee of one million cedis for each borehole, which cost about 90 million cedis.

The beneficial communities include, Gomoa Amanfrom, Gomoa Famanyie, Gomoa Shwidame, Gomoa Obri, Gomoa Kumasi, Gomoa Lome. Gomoa Simbrofo, Gomoa Koforidua and Ajumako Ansa all in the Gomoa district. The rest are Awutu Kwei and Kwabena Andor in the Awutu-Effutu Senya district. Mr. Isaac Kankam-Boadu, Field Project Officer of the Winneba district of ADRA, told the Ghana News Agency at Gomoa Simbrofo on Wednesday that currently, the sources of drinking water for the communities were very unhygienic and bad.

Mr. Kankam-Boadi said the first phase of the project involving drilling had taken off successfully at Gomoa Famenyie, Gomoa Shwidame and Gomoa Obri.

The second phase that involves the installation of hand pumps would start after the completion of the first phase, he said. He said last year, ADRA provided Gomoa Asempanye, Gomoa Dago, Osai Krodua, Senya Beraku and Kubo Akyire with boreholes.
