AESDA asks to equip NYC office at Winneba for effective operation

Winneba (C/R), Jan. 15, GNA - The President of the Winneba Progressive Youth Club, a non political youth movement in Winneba, Mr Philip Adu Mensah has made a passionate appeal to the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Assembly (AESDA) to help equip the district office of the National Youth Council (NYC) to enable it perform effectively. "It is rather unfortunate that an institution like the National Youth Council, which has been tasked with youth development programmes nation wide cannot boost of computers, fax machines, vehicles and other logistics to enable it operate efficiently".

Mr Adu Mensah said this when addressing a one-day youth leaders of some various clubs in Winneba Township at Winneba on Friday. The meeting organized by the Progressive Youth Club accorded participants the opportunity to discus how the youth in the town could be trained to acquire skills to improve upon their living standards. He said the inability of the NYC nationwide to train the youth to acquire skills was due to its poor resource and pointed out that if properly equipped it would be in position to under take more youth development programmes.

Mr Adu Mensah said that it was high time the government fully resourced the National Youth Council with the necessary logistics to ensure effective and collaborative work between its national and regional offices. 15 Jan. 05
